Ladies remain unbeaten and on top

The Ladies welcomed Leicester City Ladies to Tally Ho on Sunday in the League; aiming to bolster their goal tally and remain unbeaten. The game got off to a slow start from both teams. With Leicester playing the long ball game it was hard for Moors to get hold of the ball and play to begin.

However with some good football being exchanged between Dickinson, White and Bickley in the middle of the park Moors gradually played their way into the game. On 10 Leicester found themselves 1 on 1 with Parkes but excellent goalkeeping saw her stop the Leicester striker in her tracks. Moors gained their first corner on 15 with Howard putting a great ball in unfortunately cleared by the Leicester defence on the line.

As Moors pushed forward Howard again slotted the ball into the box which was only partly cleared and fell to Grieves 20 yards out where she hit it sweetly in to the keepers top left hand corner. Great strike. 1-0 22'.

Moors now looked the stronger side and continued to press forward. They didn't have to wait long before a well-timed pass from captain Dickinson found Jefferies who cut inside the defender and curled it around the keeper. 2-0 39'.

With Moors looking for a third it was Leicester who found themselves again 1 on 1 with Moors keeper but Parkes pulled off another fantastic save. On 43 White made it 3 with some determined play from Taylor and a simple tap in for White.

HT 3-0

A slow start to the second half from Moors saw Leicester grab a goal back after some careless defending. 3-1 55'.

With Dickinson and Grieves leading by example Moors began dominating the game, not great football but always in control. On 62 the ball fell to Taylor on the edge of the box and she curled it in the top corner, another great goal. 4-1 62'.

On 68 Moors made a change - Harmison (Pugh). The final 20 of the game saw a battle for possession but little real action. The game was very scrappy at times but Moors were never going to lose and continue their unbeaten run with 4 wins in 4, remaining top of the league.

Assistant Manager Natalie Courtney reflects on the game 'Myself and Sarah again pleased with the result and will work on perfecting the performances going forward. Great position to be in heading into the local clash with West Mids on Wednesday.'
