*Club attract two nominations at Birmingham Sports Awards*
PUBLISHED: 21st Sep 17
Solihull Moors were shortlisted for two prestigious gongs at the 2017 Birmingham Sports Awards at Edgbaston Stadium.

As well as being in the running for Team of the Year, Liam McDonald was up for Manager of the Year.

The Moors were nominated for their debut season in the top flight of non-league football which saw them finish as the highest-ranked semi-professional team in England. Elsewhere, McDonald attracted praise for guiding Solihull to 16th in their maiden campaign in the Vanarama National League as one of the youngest managers in the country.

The club narrowly lost out to Wilson Stuart School table cricket team and athletics coach Tony Hadley respectively but The Moors can still consider themselves proud for being a leading light in the local football scene.

Meanwhile, there was some further Moors-related cheer as academy graduate Tyrese Shade clinched the Professional Young Sportsperson of the Year Award.

After making his first-team breakthrough at Solihull last season, 17-year-old Shade clinched a dream move to Premier League outfit Leicester City in August.
