U18s bow out of County Cup
*Solihull Moors U18s 0 Sutton Coldfield U18s 4 - Ronald Crane reports from Tally Ho!*

Having won this trophy in style last season, the young Moors crashed out of this year's County Cup at the first round.

Drawn at home against Sutton Coldfield U18s, hopes were high that The Moors would progress.

For fifteen minutes the home side were well on top, and ought to have taken the lead after ten minutes when Town failed to clear a Moors corner. But they did not, and Town took full advantage. A Town cross from their right, was headed home by Malachi when he was trying to head the ball wide. No blame can be laid at his door, but from that moment on, Town were on the front foot.

Physically bigger than the home side, Town are a workmanlike side. They prefer the long ball approach, and rode their luck with fouls and the contact side of the game.

Moors were their own worst enemy. Poor passing, poor decision making at crucial moments, and a reluctance to shoot added to their lack of desire, all went to ensure that they would get nothing from this tie.

Town had passion and better tactical awareness, and they pressed home their advanage.

Yet at half time, the talk among the spectators was that The Moors would turn things round in the second half. It was not to be. In fact, Town took the game by the scruff of the neck. Ashanti Pryce was guilty of not shooting on a number of occasions, but he was not the only one. It is a malaise that seems to be sweeping through the whole Solihull Moors club. The resulting lack of goals is costing The Moors teams dear.

Town hit the net four times, and Adam Bourne scored a late consolation for the Moors.

Sutton U18s progress to Round Two, the Moors are left to lick their wounds.
