Richard Money reacts to Stratford Town cup success
*'For us to win the shoot-out and go through is a bit of a boost'*
PUBLISHED: 12th Oct 17

Solihull Moors boss Richard Money was pleased with the signs of improvement showed by the team in the penalty shoot-out win over Stratford Town on Tuesday night.

With the scores level at 1-1 after 90 minutes, debutant keeper Charlie Bannister saved a spot kick to send The Moors through to the second round of the Birmingham Senior Cup.

I thought it was a really good work out for us - really good energy about the team, and obviously an opportunity to look at those that didnt start on Saturday.

I said when I came in it was very important I got to see them all play as quick as I can and this game gave us that opportunity. We want to create a bit of competition for the eleven and I thought the group did really well.

I thought we played some really good football, I thought we looked threatening, played in behind them at the right times, we pressed a lot better and got about them a lot better - all in all I saw some really good things.

The result is not that important but for us to win the shoot-out and go through is a bit of boost. It was a pretty good night for us.

Its just a case of keep working away at the structure, keep working away on the little patterns that we want to see on the pitch. We definitely saw more of that against Stratford, especially in the first half with good movement from Dapo Afolayan and Wes McDonald, and Richard Brodie led the line.

We have got to get that mix of playing football and causing them problems with the long pass. It is a game of both short and long passes and I thought we got the mix right.
