*The Moors suffer their first defeat of pre-season - by James Morgan*
It was disappointment for Solihull Moors in their final pre-season game as they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of National League North side Kidderminster Harriers.
Despite early pressure from the away side, it was Moors, sporting their new home kit for the first time, who created the first real chance of the game. A poor pass from Lee Vaughan was intercepted by Adi Yussuf and his cross eventually fell to Kwame Thomas, but he failed to get a clean connection and his volley from close range trickled wide.
The Harriers then took the lead in the 25th minute. A fantastic over the top through pass from Billy Daniels split the Moors defence and Ashley Chambers went through one on one with Ryan Boot, before rounding the goalkeeper and sliding the ball in to an empty net.
Moors tried to respond immediately just one minute later. Darren Carter whipped in a free kick and Alex Gudger’s header was comfortably saved by Brandon Hall in the Kidderminster goal. Jamey Osborne then tried his luck from the edge of the area, but his shot took a deflection and was easily saved by Hall.
Kidderminster doubled their advantage in the 31st minute through Joe Ironside. A cross from the right wasn’t dealt with by the Moors defence and it fell to Ironside who finished past a helpless Boot from close range.
Kyle Storer forced a terrific save from Hall in the 36th minute as the hosts looked for a route back in to the game. Carter picked him out on the edge of the box from a free kick and his first-time shot was excellently tipped round the post by the goalkeeper.

Ironside doubled his tally in the second half, as he put the Harriers 3-0 up in the 58th minute. Another defensive mix up at the back for the Moors was punished as the striker calmly slotted past the trialist in goal. Yussuf looked to pull one back for the home side just minutes later, but his shot was pushed past the post by Hall.
Moors again came close to scoring through Callum Coyle. The midfielder’s first-time volley from range took a deflection but sailed narrowly over the bar. Sam Austin had a chance to further increase the advantage for Kidderminster in the 80th minute, but his shot from a tight angle found the side netting.
Liam Daly came close to clawing back a consolation for Moors in the last few minutes of the match, but his downward header was tame and comfortable for Hall to deal with.
That’s how it finished at The Automated Technology Stadium with Moors tasting defeat for the first time in pre-season thanks to goals from Chambers and Ironside (2).
