*The Moors continue their fine pre-season form - by Luke Turner*
Solihull Moors made it three wins from three in pre-season as they dispatched of a youthful-looking Birmingham City Under 23’s side at the Trillion Trophy Training Complex.
An own goal inside the opening 10 minutes from Joe Redmond put the Moors ahead, before Adi Yussuf doubled the lead in the second half.
After a lively start to the game, Tim Flowers’ men broke the deadlock. A deep in swinging corner from Darren Carter eluded everyone in the middle and bounced in off the unlucky Redmond.
The Moors skipper, whose pinpoint set pieces became a theme throughout, delivered once again just minutes later. This time though, Liam Daly’s header sailed over Tom Glover’s crossbar.
The duo combined again with just under 10 minutes to go until half time, as Carter’s free-kick met the head of Daly who nodded down at the back post only to be denied by Glover.
The hosts best opening of the half came when substitute Dennis M’Bay laid it on a plate for Kyle McFarlane to shoot, but Alex Gudger was there not once, but twice to block magnificently.

Carter looked to turn from provider to sharp-shooter as he tried his luck twice inside a minute. The first coming from a driving run as the midfielder fired wide, before he then received a pass from Jamey Osborne and shot over the bar.
The Moors then doubled their lead shortly after the hour mark. It was that man again Carter who spotted Yussuf in the middle, before crossing for the forward who made no mistake, slotting home with the inside of his boot.
A flurry of substitutions slightly took an edge off the tempo of the game, but Solihull continued to dominate and limited Richard Beale’s side to little action in the Moors half.
Moors’ versatile substitute George Carline found himself playing in an unnatural centre forward position as the game came to an end. He almost got on the scoresheet after neatly working himself into a position to shoot inside the area, with an effort that was deflected just over the bar with the ‘keeper stranded.
There was still time for Carter to deliver one more inch-perfect set-piece which found the head of Gudger. The defender nodded back across goal into a dangerous area, but no one was there to gobble up the opportunity.
