Moors unable to find a way through a resolute defence...
Solihull Moors and Boreham Wood played out a goalless draw at the Automated Technology Group Stadium, with both sides cancelling each other out in the Vanarama National League clash.
Moors made two changes to the side that drew a blank against FC Halifax Town on Tuesday evening, with Alex Gudger and Matty Stenson coming in for Harry Flowers and the injured Jermaine Hylton.
After a subdued start to proceedings, the Moors conjured up the first opportunity as Darren Carter switched the play to Jamie Reckord on the left. The full back whipped in a dangerous cross, but Kyle Storer’s flicked header went comfortably wide.
Tim Flowers was forced into an early change with Stenson, making his first start for Moors, going off due to illness and being replaced by Kwame Thomas.
A Jamey Osborne free kick was met by the head of Liam Daly who could only head over the bar as the hosts looked to end the half strongly.
Some good play from substitute Thomas almost resulted in Adi Yussuf getting on the end of his low cross, but the forward couldn’t quite stretch to reach it.
And that was as good as it got in the first half as the two sides entered the break level, in an opening 45 minutes with little to report on.
Half-time: Solihull Moors 0-0 Boreham Wood
The Moors started the second period with intent and some patient build-up down the left-hand side from Reckord and Osborne resulted in Yussuf’s deep cross being headed clear, but only to Thomas who acrobatically fired his effort just over the bar.
Storer was next to make a burst towards the Boreham Wood goal as he latched onto a ball and took aim, but his shot was blocked and out for a corner.
From the corner kick, Daly rose highest at the back post to nod down into the six-yard area where the ball was then scrambled clear by the visiting defence.
With the game entering its latter stage, Luke Garrard’s team applied some of their own pressure – a corner kick causing difficulty for the Moors defence, before just about being cleared.
And that’s how it ended with neither side able to find a winner, as the Moors move up one place to fifth in the National League.
