Ronald Crane reports as Moors come back and win

With Josh Parsons, Arum Solomon and Dylon Bennett all injured, Sam Manoochehri started with Shuja Mahmood up front. It was to be an inspired choice.

The visitors were out of the trap like a shot. They pushed the Moors back right from kick-off. A misplaced pass in defence was pounced upon by Hampton. The ball found its way to Ainsley Seivwright who made no mistake from inside the area. One feared the worse, but this young Moors side is learning quickly. They did not wilt, far from it, they set about pulling the scores back to level.

There were a number of wonderful moves by the home side, good crosses, beautiful passing movements; but no end product. About the quarter of an hour point Michee Mbuti drew the defence out of position to produce a cross from the right that was tapped home by Shuja Mahmood.

From this point on, the Moors started to turn on the style. Rubyn Gill should have doubled the score, but miskicked at the crucial moment. This was followed by a gilt-edged chance for the Moors. Somehow Garghan in the Hampton goal saved. Badet Ralph and Shuja were injured in the process, and the Hampton player had to be substituted.

The Moors continued to control things, and as the game progressed, they became more dominant. Hampton tried to play football, but the home side were just too good for them. Seven minutes from the break Shuja secured his second when he beat the offside, rounded the ‘keeper to tap the ball home.

A minute from the break, Jerome Clarke was on hand to tap home after really good work by Gill and Shuja.

A goal down inside five minutes, the young Moors went to the break with a three to one lead.

For the re-start, Hampton made a terrible mistake in defence and Jerome Clarke scored from sixteen yards. From this point on, Moors managed the game rather well, considering that they are all under 21. Ethan Sephton gave a wonderful cameo performance, full of desire, running and skill. He was unlucky not to score himself.

To their credit, Hampton never gave up, they tried to play their way back into the game, but the Moors defence was more than up to their task.
This young Moors side is learning very fast, and right at the death, Karmol Campbell hammered the ball home to make it a nap score.

Moors Maxwell: Mbuti: Hirst (Sephton): Kendrick: McNally (c): Binner: Clarke [44 & 48]: Martin: Mahmood [16 & 38] (Ikwa): Gill (Mason); Campbell [90]. Subs unused: Mystry & Price.

Next Match: Saturday 25th August 2018 Fairfield Villa FC v MAFC {Lee James Cup R1} at Recreation Ground, Stourbridge Road, Fairfield, Bromsgrove, B61 9LZ. KO 3pm
