Moors fall short as Tamworth capitalise on defensive errors. Solihull Moors were unable to build on recent momentum as Tamworth claimed victory, punishing key mistakes in a game short on quality but decided by fine margins. Despite a bright moment from Ben Worman early on, the Moors struggled to create clear chances and were made to pay in the second half. The Moors’ best opportunity of the first half came in the 13th minute when Ben Worman found space on the edge of the box and curled an effort towards the top right-hand corner. It looked destined for the net, but an outstanding defensive header from Rye diverted the ball onto the crossbar. Tamworth largely had the upper hand in the opening period, although neither goalkeeper was truly tested. The game lacked quality in the final third for both sides, with frequent fouls disrupting any rhythm and preventing either team from building sustained attacks. The hosts came close to taking the lead nine minutes into the second half following a Solihull corner. Singh gathered the ball and quickly bowled it out to Lynch, who released Acquaye through on goal, but Laurie Walker reacted well to rush out and meet the striker at his feet. However, from the resulting goal kick, Solihull’s defence faltered. A slip just eight yards out allowed Mols to pounce and deliver a cross to Dan Creaney, who guided his header across goal, off the post and into the net. Despite making several attacking changes, the Moors struggled to pose any real threat, with the final ball consistently failing to find a yellow shirt. Tamworth managed the game effectively in the closing stages and nearly added a second in stoppage time when another defensive error allowed Creaney through, but Walker was equal to his effort on that occasion.
