Brackley Town v Solihull Moors

Solihull Moors continued their pre-season schedule with a 1-1 draw at Brackley Town on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors opened the scoring after just 14 minutes when Ryan Barnett’s cross was met by the head of Trialist C.

However, the Saints pulled level six minutes before the interval as Jordan Cullinane-Liburd bundled home from a corner.

Team News

Similar to last week at Alfreton Town, manager Neal Ardley was managing the minutes of his players.

There were five trialists in action throughout the 90 minutes, while a further six Elite Academy prospects were also involved.

Kyle Storer wasn’t yet fit to return to the squad, as Andrew Dallas and Reiss McNally also missed out through injury.

The Match

Moors sensed an early goal as Joe Sbarra quickly countered nine minutes in, but his cross from the left-hand side was into the gloves of Danny Lewis.

The opener arrived five minutes later when a trademark Barnett cross from the right was headed home in the centre by the arriving Trialist C.

And Barnett almost added a goal to his assist when he was picked out on the edge of the area by Sbarra. The winger spun and shot low, but watched it trickle just wide of the post.

Louie Moulden pulled off a sensational save to keep the scoreline at 1-0. Jimmy Armson’s shot was deflected into the path of Callum Stead who helped the ball on towards goal before Moulden’s reflexes saw him tip the ball onto the post and away to safety.

Back at the other end, Alex Reid should have made it two goals in two games when he connected with a Sbarra cross but could only divert wide.

The home side levelled when Cullinane-Liburd made himself a nuisance from a corner and managed to bundle in from close range.

Half-time: Brackley Town 1-1 Solihull Moors

There were four changes made at the break by Ardley and those included Alex Gudger, Callum Maycock and Jamey Osborne all entering the fray.

Reid did well to get himself goalside of the defender when the ball was played over the top, however his effort was well-saved by Lewis who stood firm.

More changes came on the hour mark as Jack Myatt, Leo Wood, Morgan Owen, Callum Scott and Zion Nisbett were on to represent the Elite Academy.

There was little action to report for the final half an hour, although Myatt did well to recover from a loose clearance to hold on well to a shot from the edge of the area.

Full-time: Brackley Town 1-1 Solihull Moors

Next up for the Moors is the visit of Birmingham City on Tuesday (19th July, 7pm) evening as John Eustace’s side come to the ARMCO Arena for The Arthur Cup.

Solihull Moors: Moulden (GK) (Myatt 63), Clarke (Scott 63), Trialist A (Trialist D 46), Trialist B (Owen 63), Howe (Gudger 46), Sbarra (Trialist E), Trialist C (Maycock 46), Barnett (Nisbett 63), Jones (Osborne 46), Kelleher (Jones 72), Reid (Wood 63).
