Moors’ Isuzu FA Trophy Journey Comes to an End
Moors suffered a defeat against in-form Barnet at the ARMCO Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Goals from Harry Pritchard and Ryan De Havilland were enough for The Bees to progress into the next round.
Solihull Moors welcomed Barnet in the Isuzu FA Trophy this Saturday. After a defeat at Southend, Moors we’re looking to bounce back with a win.
The two teams had met earlier in the season in the league which ended 1-1. Andrew Dallas had continued his 100% scoring rate against The Bees, while Louie Moulden saved a penalty in the 80th minute which meant the points were shared.
Neal Ardley’s starting eleven included a few new faces as new signings Tom Whelan and Oisin Smyth joined Callum Maycock in midfield. Kian Ryley and Joel Shambrooke were also named in the starting eleven, meaning the youngsters got their first start for the seniors.
8’| The opening minutes see both teams testing each other in a controlled manner. It’s difficult to say at this point who will have more of the ball and control the tempo.
15’ | Some beautiful football from Moors. We build the play out from the back and Donawa makes a run through the middle of the park finding Kian Ryley. Ryley twists and turns on the left side and finds Coker who sends in a curling cross. Dallo gets a header on it, but it goes just wide!
19’| Tom Whelan is playing like he’s been with Moors for years. Some smart movement in front of our box means he finds space in the middle and plays a perfect through ball to Dallas. Dallas waits for a second on the edge of the box and finds Donawa in a great position to shoot but he scuffs it.
20’| A great save from Boot. Kabamba finds space and has a shot, but Boot gets a glove on it and the ball is cleared by Ben Coker.
21’| A clash of heads between Ryley and Revan means the game is paused. Both players are okay and return to the pitch.
36’| A dangerous free-kick from Barnet. A curling cross is sent towards the back post, Pritchard gets a touch on it but no one is there to finish and the ball rolls out.
39’| Joel Shambrooke is starting to put his stamp on the game. A great run down the right wing and he find Dallo in the box who plays a quick one-two with Maycock to free up space but it’s read very well by the Barnet defence and the ball is cleared.
42’| Moors fans take a deep breath. Barnet have started piling some pressure on the Moors box and have a shot scrambled away but the ball falls to Kabamba again and somehow Boot gets a hand on it.
43’| 0-1. Barnet score from a free-kick. Harry Pritchard curls the ball into the side netting putting The Bees ahead.
45’| 1 minute of stoppage time to be played.
HT | 0-1
46’| An incredible save by Boot. Kanu finds himself one on one, but Boot somehow deflects the shot with his feet. A massive opportunity missed for Barnet.
48’| A great chance for Ryley! His shot takes a big deflection and looks to be chipping over Laurie Walker but it ends up landing just above the bar.
55’| The best chance of the game for Moors! Tom Whelan threads the ball to find Dallo, he’s one on one with the goalkeeper but is outmuscled and loses his balance.
56’| Barnet come very close. Howe shields the ball from the Barnet striker but Boots spills it. Barnet strike the ball but is cleared off the line by Joey Jones.
57’| Double substitution for Moors. Kian Ryley and Callum Maycock make way for Ryan Barnett and Josh Kelly.
60’| Barnet substitution. Sam Beard comes on for Dom Revan.
64’| Unlucky for Dallo. He has a shot from the right side of the box but the it goes just wide. We’re piling the pressure now.
67’| Sub for Barnet. Rob Hall comes on for Marvin Armstrong.
79’| Barnet double their lead. Moors lose possession and Barnet hit on the counter attack. Ryan De Havilland reads the game well and frees himself towards the edge of the box and doubles Barnet’s lead with a smart finish.
