Solihull Moors is delighted to welcome Acorns Children’s Hospice to the ARMCO Arena for a matchday takeover of our game against Oldham Athletic on Saturday 16 December.
With it being the season of goodwill, whilst our thoughts are with others, it’s the perfect fixture to partner with Acorns and spread festive spirit to those who need it most.
We are encouraging fans to bring a pound to the ground for bucket collections which will be held across the ARMCO Arena in aid of the amazing work carried out by the charity.
Acorns will have a presence outside the stadium before and after the game with volunteers also taking up positions inside the ground during the matchday.
You’ll see volunteers running a tombola in the Trevor Stevens Suite and they’ll also be making their way up to the Jerroms VP Suite and executive boxes so donations at the ready!
Not only that but the children’s charity will be holding a keepy-up competition in the fan zone with prizes to be won – so keep your eyes peeled for that.
Our beloved mascot Soli will also be joined on the day by Acorns much-adored mascot Alex Acorn, both will no doubt be causing mischief before the game and at half-time!
Want to find out more about Acorns on the day? There will be plenty of flyers dotted about the stadium, a feature in the digital matchday programme and information about how to support the charity on the big screen.
Furthermore, thanks to the generosity of this season’s home front of shirt sponsors, Living Well, Acorns will be adorning the front of the shirt for this one-off game.
It is an incredibly kind gesture by Living Well who were very welcoming to the suggestion and recognise the importance of promoting such a worthwhile cause.
Players from both sets of teams will also don Acorns t-shirts in the warmup prior to the game.
Jo Thomas, Area Fundraiser for Acorns Children’s Hospice, said: “As Solihull’s local children’s hospice we’re thrilled to join our friends at Solihull Moors for this special matchday takeover. Every penny raised at today’s match will help us be stronger together for children and families across Solihull and Birmingham this Christmas.
“Help spread a little extra festive cheer by helping us continue our lifeline care and support. Your donations will make a huge difference by helping us be there for local children and families when they need us most.”
Bradley Rice, Head of Commercial at Solihull Moors, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be partnering Acorns for this special matchday takeover during the festive season.
“It is a time of year that sees us all come together to share goodwill amongst family and friends. Therefore, it is perfect for us to advocate a cause which year-round has the act of giving at its very core.
“I’d also like to thank our sponsors Living Well for their generosity in allowing Acorns to take centre stage for this game.
“By having Acorns on the front of the shirt, it’s a fantastic vehicle to promote such a worthy cause and hopefully it helps to shine a spotlight on the incredible work that the Charity carries out.”
