Solihull Moors can confirm that Callum Whelan has joined fellow National League side Gateshead on loan until the end of the season, subject to league approval.

The box-to-box midfielder joined Moors over the summer following a successful trial period at the club.

Having signed ahead of the opening day of the campaign, Whelan has gone on to make 20 appearances in all competitions so far this season, however, has had limited minutes of late, due to injury and increased competition in midfield areas.

Formerly of Manchester United, Watford and Oldham Athletic, Whelan now joins the Heed aiming to help Mike Williamson's side remain in the division.

They currently occupy the final relegation spot but sit just one point away from safety with 16 games remaining.
