People living in Studley are set to benefit from fresh investment into local football facilities. Solihull Moors Foundation have been awarded a grant from the Premier League, The FA, and Government’s Football Foundation, to refurbish the main changing rooms at Studley Sports Centre.
The Football Foundation is the UK’s largest sports charity and exists to improve the experience of playing football for everyone, by championing fair access to quality facilities.
This grant will enable hundreds of players at Solihull Moors Foundation and Studley FC the chance to play football each week, with improvements to their infrastructure and compliance moving forward.
Players and supporters will be able to enjoy high quality changing room facilities, which will represent a significant improvement on the existing infrastructure.
Solihull Moors Foundation worked with the Football Foundation and the Birmingham County FA to secure a £25,000 grant towards the project.
Solihull Moors Operations Director, Richard Blackmore, who headed up the project, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Football Foundation for their help in securing this grant.
“Over the past couple of years, several other improvements have been made to Studley Sports Centre and the latest will only add extra value and enhance the experience of players, coaches and supporters who use the facility.
“These changing room improvements will benefit a number of teams at the Solihull Moors Foundation, including the women’s development side, as well as Studley Juniors.”
Robert Sullivan, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: “This grant award to Solihull Moors Foundation towards developing the infrastructure at Studley Sports Centre is great news for the local community.
“It will support people’s ability to play our national game locally and therefore help unlock football’s many benefits to physical and mental wellbeing. That’s why we’re committed to transforming the face of grassroots football facilities in this country. It’s therefore very welcome news to hear that this funding will support Solihull Moors Foundation in developing their facilities for their local community.
“The Football Foundation is working closely with our partners – the Premier League, The FA, government and Sport England – support facility development projects like this across the country over the next decade to transform our grassroots game and unlock the power of pitches.”
