Storer departs Moors.

Solihull Moors can confirm that club Captain and loyal servant Kyle Storer has departed the club, ending a five-year stay at the ARMCO Arena.

The 35-year-old joined Solihull Moors in January 2018 and has gone on to make 200 first-team appearances in the yellow and blue.

During his time with the club, Storer reached a landmark milestone, chalking up his 700th career appearance in the 2-0 win at Maidenhead United in October.

Having signed from Cheltenham Town in the January, Storer became an integral part of Moors' great escape in the second half of the 2017/18 season.

Ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, Storer was named club captain and has maintained the armband ever since.

In his first season as captain, he guided Moors to a second-place finish, trailing champions Leyton Orient by just three points.

Ninth and 11th placed finishes followed that, in which Storer was again one of the first names on the team sheet.

As he was for the 2021/22 season, a campaign that ended with Storer leading Moors out at the London Stadium for the Promotion Final last June.

Moors were in touching distance of the Football league but narrowly lost 2-1 to Grimsby Town in extra-time.

It’s testament to his leadership qualities, that Storer has remained captain through several managers.

Tim Flowers, Jimmy Shan, Mark Yates, and most recently Neal Ardley all chose to name him skipper.

Upon the announcement, Ardley said: "Kyle has given the club outstanding service and has been an incredible captain for me over the past 18 months, we're sad to lose him.

"Unfortunately for us he's had a very good offer from Nuneaton to be part of that going forward and at his age we felt we couldn't stand in his way.

"It's sad to lose such a character in the dressing room and a real leader on the pitch, but it's the right thing for Kyle to go on a new adventure.

"He's been a great example to the group in my time here and I know he has strong aspirations to go into coaching, so as a club we certainly wish him the very best."

Chairman Darryl Eales also added: “Kyle has been the central character of my time at Moors, from the great escape to the development of the club on the pitch and, of course the heartbreak of the play-off final last season.

“He has been a loyal servant of the club, as well as a leader in the dressing room and his contribution cannot be overstated.

“Kyle now has the opportunity to guarantee the extension of his playing career and he leaves with our best wishes and grateful thanks.

“I still very much hope that Kyle will return to the club in a coaching or managerial capacity one day and he is always a welcome friend.”

Storer leaves Solihull Moors with the heartfelt gratitude of all the players, management, and staff at the club for his incredible service and we wish him well in his next chapter.

Thank you, Stoz!
