It was heartbreak for the Elite Academy as Finlay Jaggard's 94th minute winner knocked Moors out of the FA Youth Cup.

A cold evening in Leighton started promisingly for Moors, the likes of Ethan Bracher and Sam Wrenn showing attacking desire from the early stages.

Work had to be done at the other end to avoid going behind however, as Sam Smith made a fine block on the line to preserve the goalless scoreline in the 22nd minute.

The home side made their presence known later on the first period, as Luis Foster’s blushes were spared after he brought down the opposing attacker only for the assistant to raise the offside flag despite the referee initally awarding a penalty to the home side.

Leighton Town made the stronger start to the second period, as Foster was put under increasing pressure as the half went on. An alternation of personnel gave the away side a boost going forward, with a notable cameo from Malakai Miller who offered pace and flare when breaking forward.

Despite some goalkeeping heroics late on as Foster got his finger tips to a headed ball to send it ricocheting off the crossbar. However, the home side eventually worked their way round the Moors stopper and slotted the winner into an empty net inside the final two minutes.

Not even a minute later, the referee blew up for full-time as the Leighton players wheeled away in celebration.

It's back to league action for the second years next week as they play host to Chester at Studley Sports Centre.
