Fresh from Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Aldershot Town, the Moors go again at the SportNation.bet Stadium on Tuesday evening – Wealdstone are the visitors this time around.
Kick Off: 7:45pm
Here’s your full match preview...
Tuesday’s Virtual Mascot is four-year-old Filip Androne and he loves playing football in the garden with his brother Dominic.
Filip has a famous neighbour nearby, none other than Moors skipper Kyle Storer!
For that reason, Kyle is Filip’s favourite Moors player and he’s predicting a 2-0 victory for Mark Yates’ side against Wealdstone.
The Moors ended a run of nine games without a win thanks to Cameron Archer’s first-half goal versus the Shots.
Wealdstone, sitting two places and three points below Solihull, are on a three-game losing streak of their own but have picked up six points from their last six games.
In the Opposite Dugout – Stuart Maynard
Maynard came to the Stones in May 2019 as assistant to former boss Dean Brennan, whom he had worked with since 2012 at Hemel Hempstead Town, Billericay Town and Kingstonian.
Maynard also played for the Stones back in 1999/00 after his release from Watford and had a lengthy playing career in non-league with St Albans City, Aylesbury United, Enfield, Hitchin Town, Dunstable Town, Chesham United, Barton Rovers, Halesowen Town, Aylesbury and Hemel Hempstead Town.
Following Brennan’s departure at the beginning of February, Maynard took temporary charge of the Stones before accepting the full-time gig earlier this month on a contract until the end of next season.
One To Watch – Jerome Okimo
The 32-year-old defender spent the first seven years of his footballing life at Chalfont St Peter in the Spartan South Midlands and then Southern Leagues making 308 appearances.
Gordon Bartlett then snapped him up at the start of the 2013/14 season when he played a starring role in Stones’ Ryman championship-winning side.
His performances earned him a move into full-time football with Stevenage and then a drop back down into non-league with Braintree Town before boss Bartlett tempted him back to Wealdstone for the 2017/18 season as team captain.
Quiet, solid and talented, Jerome leads by example and with not far short of 200 appearances under his belt, is on the cusp of becoming a Wealdstone legend.
The Moors will be without the suspended James Ball and Mitch Hancox against the Stones.
Ball sits out the first of his three-match ban for a straight red card on Saturday, while Hancox begins his two-match suspension. The left-back picked up two yellow cards against Aldershot Town but, due to his previous dismissal v Boreham Wood earlier in the season, the red card carries an additional one-match suspension.
Long-term absentees Jamey Osborne, Callum Howe, Alex Gudger, Kyle Howkins, Stephen Gleeson and Nathan Cameron remain unavailable.
A matchday programme was produced for the original fixture that was postponed in January and copies are still available to purchase.
Midfielder Callum Maycock is the cover star!
