A young Moors side were beaten 4-1 at Bromsgrove this evening although they showed character to recover from going four goals down inside the first half hour.

With most of the senior players reporting for duty at Damson Park to take on Derby County The Moors used the game as a way of giving their new pros and Academy players game time with Bradley Stevenson adding experience and skippering the side.

However, the Moors got off to the worst possible start against an impressive and more experienced Bromsgrove side when Shaw headed the home side ahead inside the first minute and although Stevenson went close with a powerful long-range effort, they were 2-0 down after 19 minutes when Nick Clayton Phillips steered the ball home and five minutes later Aksum White made it 3-0 from a Luke Benbow pass.

Benbow then made it 4-0 with just half an hour on the clock and it would have been easy for the Moors to throw in the towel, Instead Charlie Footes fired home to make it 4-1, BIlly Corns went close with another effort and the young Moors competed with far more intensity after the break, despite the game being effectively over.

Lessons learned, which is what pre-season is for.
