Joe Sbarra was the star of the night as Moors held their 2021/22 End of Season Awards, sponsored by Wise, at the Forest Hotel on Monday evening.

The 23-year-old scooped four awards, rightly recognised by supporters and players alike, taking home the Supporters’ Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season.

Sbarra has been one of the stand-out performers in the National League this season, scoring 17 goals from midfield and becoming a key cog in the Moors team pushing for promotion.

His other notable highlights include a first senior hat-trick versus Eastleigh and a call-up to the England C squad, where Sbarra made his international bow against Wales C.

More than 600 votes came in for the Supporters’ Player, with Sbarra coming out on top – Callum Maycock was second, while goalkeeper Ryan Boot came in third.

With almost 50% of the vote, Sbarra’s first goal against Wrexham (Moors’ first of the campaign) was enough to earn him the Goal of the Season ahead of Ryan Barnett’s strike at home to Notts County (second) and Kyle Hudlin’s back-heel away to Torquay United (third).

The Solihull Moors Supporters Association Player of the Season again went to Sbarra on a memorable night for Moors number seven.

Manager Neal Ardley came up to present the 2021/22 Young Player of the Season and confirmed 22-year-old Ryan Barnett as the winner.

The winger has shone throughout the campaign and proven a menace to defenders with his runs, trickery, and crosses down the right-hand side.

With three goals and a hatful of assists, Barnett was again a worthy winner following a stunning season at the club.

Andrew Dallas currently leads the way in the top goal scorer charts with 21 goals in all competitions this season, so the Top Scorer award went the way of the prolific Scot.

With two hat-tricks and a couple of braces thrown in, Dallas has been red-hot in front of goal and is up there competing with the best when it comes to strikers in the division.

Off the field, there were three awards dedicated to those who have gone above and beyond in their roles at the football club.

Adam Rooney was the deserved winner of the Community Contribution award for his work as a trustee of the Solihull Moors Foundation, while club photographer Richard King was the proud recipient of the Unsung Hero award.

His tireless work as a volunteer didn’t go unnoticed – Richard travels up and down the country covering first team, women’s and elite academy matches all for the love of the club and is a highly valued and popular figure at the football club.

Finally, Media and Communications Manager, Luke Turner, was this year’s Club Person winner as voted for by fellow employees.
