Solihull Moors are pleased to confirm the signing of centre-back Jordan Tunnicliffe, who becomes the Club’s latest addition ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The former Wrexham defender has signed a one-year deal at Damson Park, following the expiration of his Wrexham contract after two years with the Red Dragons.
On signing for Solihull, the defender said: “It’s a local club to me, I’ve lived in the area the last few years and it’s a club that have got aspirations to get into the football league and I want to be a part of that.”
“I’ve got promoted from this league before and I want to try and do it again”
“It’s a really tough league to get out of, I know what it takes now and what the changing room has to do and we’ve got to drive those high standards.”
Tunnicliffe leaves Wrexham having made 32 appearances during his time under Phil Parkinson, achieving back-to-back promotions in North Wales.
The 30-year-old was named in the EFL League Two Team of the Year in 2020/21 and recovered from injury to help Crawley Town secure back-to-back top-half finishes in League Two.
Prior to his time in West Sussex, the defender spent two seasons with AFC Fylde, helping the Coasters secure two play-off finishes as well as winning the Isuzu FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium in 2019.
Tunnicliffe, who was born in Nuneaton, was previously part of West Bromwich Albion’s academy before spending time with Barnsley, Sutton Coldfield Town and Kidderminster Harriers where the defender earned an England C cap in 2017.
On his addition, Moors Head Coach Andy Whing said: “We’re absolutely delighted to sign Jordan and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”
“He’s been promoted out of this league and has played higher which is really important and what we’ve looked for this summer going in to another tough campaign. “
“I think with how well we did last season, the calibre of player like Jordan are wanting to come here and keep pushing the club forward.”
Welcome to Solihull, Jordan!
