Moors held at home...

Solihull Moors and York City shared the spoils in an entertaining 1-1 draw at the ARMCO Arena on Wednesday night.

Second-half substitute Alex Reid gave Moors the lead after neat work from Joe Sbarra and Andrew Dallas but the home side were to be denied all three points, as Lenell John-Lewis equalized soon after for the visitors.

Ahead of the game, Neal Ardley made one change to the team that drew with Southend United at the weekend, with Josh Kelly making his first league start since his summer move from Maidenhead United.

New boy Connor Parsons was named amongst the substitutes following his loan switch from League One side Wycombe Wanderers earlier in the day.

Moors made a strong start to the game and had the ball in the back of the net inside the first ten minutes, but the offside flag cut short Sbarra's celebrations.

Ardley's men were pressing for the opener and James Clarke came within inches of opening his account for the season, the right back unlucky to see his effort cannon off the woodwork.

Returning to his old stomping ground, Mitch Hancox almost broke the deadlock for the Minstermen but his shot from the edge of the area was expertly tipped around the post by Moors keeper Louie Moulden.

A Ben Coker free-kick then created a moment of panic in the York box but Dallas' effort was well held by Ethan Ross.

That was the last meaningful action of a first half that had seen Moors come within a whisker of taking the lead.

Shortly after the interval, Ardley turned to Reid and within minutes it proved to be an inspired substitution, the striker converting Dallas' low cross into the back of the net.

But it wasn't a lead that lasted long, as York hit back through John-Lewis, less than 10 minutes later.

John Lewis threatened again, only thwarted by a flying Moulden who was able to get fingertips to the ball and divert it over the bar.

With 15 minutes remaining, Ardley gave Parsons his Moors debut and the loanee almost made an instant impact. Jinking into the box, he worked himself an opening but his low effort was well saved by Ross with his legs.

It proved to be the last opportunity for Moors who had to settle for a draw against a very competitive York side.

The hosts maintained their unbeaten start to the season and will be confident going into Saturday's trip to Scunthorpe United.
