Solihull Moors made it three wins on the spin with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Woking at the SportNation.bet Stadium.

It took just five minutes for the Moors to break the deadlock. Adam Rooney, rewarded with a start after his winner on Tuesday, was again the man to pounce.

Alex Addai did well on the right-hand side and found Rooney, who finished inside the six-yard area.

And it was almost two shortly after. Jordan Cranston skipped by his man with ease and delivered a teasing cross into the danger zone where Rooney slid in and couldn’t quite make contact.

Despite the positive start, Moors were unable to build on the early goal and gave away a penalty on 21 minutes.

Tyrone Williams was judged to have bundled over his man and Charlie Cooper stepped up from 12 yards. However, Ryan Boot guessed right and saved down low to ensure the Moors remained ahead with the one-goal lead.

An opportunity missed by the Cards and it was almost costly. Moors attacked dangerously as Rooney capitalised on a defensive slip and played it to Addai. The on-loan Cheltenham Town man then took it upon himself to drive at the visiting backline and fired a left-footed shot just wide of the mark.

On the stroke of half-time, the lead was almost doubled. Moors were awarded a free-kick in a promising position as James Ball took charge and saw his strike hit the top of the bar on its way over.

Half-time: Solihull Moors 1-0 Woking

There was little to report in the opening stages of the second-half, as Mark Yates brought on Cameron Archer in place of Addai – the winger had been struggling towards the end of the first 45 with a knock.

Cranston attempted a cheeky free-kick with the full-back aiming for the near post, but Mark Smith was able to move across his goal and save.

The home side had to call upon Boot once again to ensure the visitors weren’t in for a leveller. Sam Ashford was presented with an opening, but the Moors stopper was out quick to thwart the Woking forward and even got the lucky ricochet back off Ashford.

With the lead only at one, Woking were always in for a chance and Alan Doswon’s side sensed that.

The Cardinals equalised with 11 minutes left to play. Cooper’s corner was right on the money and there was Nathan Collier to glance home the leveller.

A blow to Moors, but one that brought them back to life as they took the lead again on 83 minutes.

Substitute Kyle Hudlin picked up the ball just inside the Woking half and rode a couple of challenges. Before he knew it, space opened up.

There were options to his left, but Hudlin went for it himself and kept his head down. The strike was low and, from the edge of the area, the 20-year-old found the bottom corner and notched for the fifth home game running.

A goal worthy of winning any game as the Moors won their third game on the spin and stretched their unbeaten home run to eight games.
