It was a five-star performance from Moors and Andrew Dallas, who claimed all three points against Dover Athletic at the ARMCO Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Dallas, fresh from his hat-trick at Southport last weekend, once again took home the match ball after sensationally netting all five of Moors’ goals.

Neal Ardley’s men took an early lead, with Dallas finding the end of Adam Rooney’s header. This was just the first of his five for the afternoon, as Moors scored four inside the opening 40 minutes. The fifth came in the second half, with Dallas cutting inside defender and goalkeeper Adam Parkes, before netting an eighth goal in his last two games.

Team News

Ardley made one change to his winning side that faced Southport last weekend in the FA Trophy. Adam Rooney came in for Danny Newton, who joined Ryan Barnett, Jordan Cranston, Reiss McNally and Kyle Hudlin on the bench.

Following his impressive display at the Pure Stadium, Dallas maintained his place in the starting 11, while Kyle Storer was still out with a back injury.

The Match

It was the visitors who got the game underway at the ARMCO Arena. However, the first chance of the game fell to Moors in the fourth minute, who found space down the right-hand side. It was squared across for Dallas, but his shot was put behind for a corner.

Moors took the lead in the eighth minute in what was an extremely well-worked goal. After building through the thirds, Callum Maycock’s cross found the head of Rooney, who nodded it back across goal where Dallas was waiting to get the final touch on the line.

Moors lead was doubled just minutes later, and it was Dallas again in the tenth minute. The forward was fed the ball by Joe Sbarra who provided Dallas with a delicate back-heel, before the Scot used his left boot to fire past Parkes.

Dover had a chance to get back into the game through Alfie Pavey, following a Parkes goal kick finding his feet just outside the penalty box. However, Ryan Boot was there to stop it and smothered the ball to deny the visitors.

There was a brief pause in play as Harry Ransom received treatment for the away side and following this, they enjoyed their first real spell of possession in the game. The ball fell to Henry Woods who got a shot out of his feet, but his effort was off target and flew over the bar for a goal kick.

The Whites were awarded a free-kick just before the 30-minute mark, but it was blasted into the Moors wall and sent behind for a corner. Moors responded well, and a chance fell for Dallas to get his second successive hat-trick. However, his shot was well read by Parkes.

Another chance came for Dallas in the 33rd minute, after Moors again found space down the right-hand side. However, he was unable to convert his shot, and it went wide.

In the 35th minute Dallas finally got his hat-trick, following a great run down the right-hand side. He was able to keep his composure and sent it past a diving Parkes to extend Moors lead to 3-0.

Another chance game for Solihull, who were finding pockets of space throughout the pitch. Sbarra made a great run down the left-hand side, but his cross into the penalty area was over-hit, with no-one there to meet it.

It was turning into a great afternoon for not just Moors but in particular Dallas, who again found space behind the White’s back line. He struck it past Parkes’ near post to claim his fourth of the afternoon.

It could have been five for Moors, after Sbarra squared an inviting ball in to the penalty box. However, Rooney’s touch just eluded him and the referee blew his whistle moments later, signalling the end of an excellent first half display from the home side.

Half time: Solihull Moors 4-0 Dover Athletic

The visitors made a substitution at the start of the second half, with Jake Goodman coming on for Seth Twumasi.

But that didn’t stop Moors and Dallas who netted a fifth of the afternoon. Sbarra’s exquisite cross-field pass was right on the money as Dallas had the confidence to chop the defender, before taking the ball round Parkes for a simple finish.

And that was the Scot’s finish piece of action as a double substitution followed for Moors - Sbarra and Dallas made way for Barnett and Newton.

Both teams made substitutions just before the 70th minute mark, with McNally coming on for Moors in replace of James Clarke.

The visitors substitute Khale Da Costa had a chance for Dover after he beat two of Moors men in the penalty area, but his shot had too much force and went over the crossbar. They were awarded a corner shortly after, but this was comfortably headed away by birthday-boy Lois Maynard.

Henry Woods was the first to be booked of the afternoon, following a late challenge on Jamey Osborne. Moors had a chance to make it six shortly after, with Newton opting not to shoot first time but instead lay it off for Barnett, whose shot was smothered by Parkes.

As the referee blew the final whistle, it was an impressive Moors victory and a five-star performance from Dallas, who claimed back-to-back hat-tricks. Moors are next in action on Tuesday evening, with a trip to Torquay United awaiting.
