The Moors 4’s is about assisting the community, providing support to those living with disabilities and helping people like… Adam Smith.
You would be hard pressed to find a bigger Solihull Moors fan than Adam, the 25-year-old has yellow and blue coursing through his veins.
Adam has down syndrome but takes it in his stride and loves volunteering at the Moors. And his dad Ian is very grateful to the club for letting his son get involved.
Ian takes great satisfaction knowing that in Moors, Adam has an environment in which he can thrive and he thanks the club for the role it has played in his son’s development.
“Adam loves spending time at the club and really looks forward to it,” he said. “He has got involved in so many activities that have pushed him and challenged him.
“That as a parent with a child with special needs, it’s fantastic to think that he can get that kind of input from a club like this.
“He really loves it and we are so grateful. We encourage him to take part in as much as he can."
Adam has been a member of the Moors family for quite some time now and his involvement in club activities has grown year on year.
“I would say it’s a good five or six years since Adam started coming up, it could even be longer than that,” said Ian.
“He’s got more and more involved. He was even doing some of the coaching last summer, helping out with some of the holiday clubs.
“He felt like he was giving something back and he brings a great enthusiasm with him.”
There is no doubting Adam is an asset to the community side of Moors and is often found offering his assistance to Head of the Moors Foundation, Becci Fox.
It is a role which has allowed Adam to find his feet, his positivity is infectious and he now is confident enough to share that energy with those he works with.
“Confidence is the big thing,” Ian said. “That involvement with other people, he is able to share his enthusiasm, he really enjoys doing that.
“That’s really helped him. I think he has just become more confident around people and that’s again being involved in some of the sessions that go on up here.
“I know that he helps Becci out quite a bit on special projects. He has definitely progressed since he has been with the club.”
