Solihull Moors were proud to host Moors Tribute Fest at Damson Park on Sunday, as supporters and the local community came together for a fantastic day of live music and entertainment. With a brilliant atmosphere throughout, the event proved a real success, showcasing the stadium as a vibrant venue beyond matchdays. A huge thank you to Iconic Events for their work in delivering such a memorable occasion and to everyone who joined us across the day. Under Contract - Jamey Osborne, Conor Wilkinson, Jacob Wakeling, Oscar Rutherford, Cameron Green, Callum McFarlane, Ben Worman, Scott High, Kian Ryley, Tyler French, Charlie Watts & Finn Howell. Out of Contract - Bradley Stevenson, Emmanuel Sonupe, Alex Whitmore, Olly Tipton, Kyle Moseley & Aaron Flahavan. Loans Returned - Tobi Sho-Silva, Will O’Sullivan, Joe Sbarra, Dan Cox, Isaac Moore, Darius Lipsiuc, Lewis Baines. Offered New Contract - Laurie Walker. Moors shine in last game of the season following fast four-goal start. The Moors could not have asked for a better start as Jacob Wakeling reopened his account, finding far too much space on the edge of the Yeovil box before blasting past the keeper with his left foot. Scott High doubled the lead just 12 minutes in, doing brilliantly to power through the Yeovil defence before firing hard and high, leaving the goalkeeper with little chance. Wakeling grabbed his second and the Moors’ third after 15 minutes, dancing past half challenges from Yeovil before cutting inside from the right and driving low into the bottom corner. There were no major chances for the next 15 minutes until Yeovil carved out their first real opportunity, which Works calmly converted around Laurie Walker. The Moors almost responded instantly, working the ball superbly down the right before a floated cross was met by Wakeling, who could only head narrowly wide. A deserved fourth arrived on 34 minutes as a gorgeous through ball into Joe Sbarra was met with an equally sweet first-time finish into the side netting. The second half began with far less venom, with the Moors content to manage the game and see out a comfortable three-goal advantage. Yeovil created the better chances after the break, forcing Will O’Sullivan into a number of excellent saves on his debut to keep his clean sheet intact. The pick of the bunch came in the 67th minute, when he somehow denied Works’ powerful low effort. The Moors had the final big chance of the game in the 79th minute, but Callum McFarlane was denied from close range by a strong save low down from Jed Ward. Match report by Maddie P
We have deliberately taken our time to consider and reflect on the events on Saturday and the dismissal of Conor Wilkinson. The club is aware of the serious allegation that has been made against Conor, who denies making a racist remark during the fixture with Boston United. The club is actively assisting the FA with its ongoing investigation into the incident, as well as supporting Conor during what is a difficult time for him both professionally and personally. Moors is a committed community club and, in the interim we wish to reiterate that the club, (including all of its players, staff and officials) has always been, and remains, totally opposed to all forms of racism. We will await the response of the relevant governing bodies before making any further comment.
Solihull will be aiming to end their three-game winless streak when they face Yeovil Town in this upcoming National League fixture. Solihull currently sit 15th in the National League whilst Yeovil sit two points below them in 16th place and have only won one of their last five games. Solihull Moors can confirm that Kian Ryley has been recalled from his loan spell at Bromsgrove Sporting. The young midfielder returns to Damson Park after gaining valuable first-team experience during his time with Bromsgrove Sporting. Moors undone after red card as Boston capitalise in the second half following temporary suspension. Both sides appeared evenly matched in the opening half, though Boston carved out the better opportunities, going closest when they struck the side netting after 23 minutes. The Moors struggled to turn promising moments into clear chances, with Jamey Osborne’s mazy runs ultimately leading to little end product. The half was frequently disrupted by fouls and time-wasting from the visitors, preventing either side from building sustained momentum. With just minutes remaining before the break, Joe Sbarra came closest to breaking the deadlock after Osborne was played in down the left, but he was unable to get on the end of the delivery. A triple change at half-time saw Conor Wilkinson, Jacob Wakeling and Daniel Cox introduced in place of Ben Worman, Emmanuel Sonupe and Callum McFarlane. The substitutions had an immediate impact, injecting energy into the Moors’ attacking play, with Wakeling going close ten minutes after the restart, forcing the Boston goalkeeper into a low, stretched save from distance. However, the game took a dramatic turn when Wilkinson was shown a straight red card following an exchange with the referee, leading to a 15-minute suspension as the situation was dealt with in the tunnel. Boston capitalised shortly after the restart, taking the lead when Lewis Baines inadvertently turned a cross into his own net while attempting to prevent Hazel from converting. The visitors doubled their advantage soon after, with Hazel doing well to hold up the ball inside the box before swivelling and firing into the top corner. Boston thought they had added a third in the 86th minute when Maguire found the net, but the effort was ruled out for offside after the celebrations. It only delayed the inevitable, as Maguire struck again minutes later to seal the result and put the game beyond doubt.
