Solihull visit Wealdstone, looking to bounce back after a defeat to Gateshead in their last outing.

Solihull currently sit 14th in the National League but haven’t picked up any victories in their last five fixtures. Wealdstone sit 10th in the league and have won three of their last five games.

Andy’s Bet Club’s
football analyst will break down Wealdstone’s recent clash with Tamworth to see what the statistics suggest about how they might set up against Solihull.

The 3-2 scoreline suggests a tight contest between the sides, but the stats indicate that Wealdstone dominated the match.

As well as having twice as many shots in the game, Wealdstone also created more quality chances. They created an xG (expected goals) of 2.66, whereas Tamworth posted 0.94.

Wealdstone also had significantly more possession in the game, and their passing accuracy and passing distances played a big role in this. They had a pass accuracy of 78% in the game and had a long pass percentage of 15%. In comparison, Tamworth had a pass accuracy of 60% and a long pass share of 29%.

Both sides were quite intense with their pressure off the ball. Wealdstone had a PPDA (Passes per Defensive Action) of 9.6 and an average formation line of 50.8m. Tamworth were slightly deeper with an average formation line of 44.9m but managed to put more pressure on the ball with a PPDA of 8.6.

Final Thoughts

Solihull will need to be aware of the threat Wealdstone pose when they attack, as the hosts have scored a combined 11 goals in their last four games. One reason for this has been the form of Micah Obiero, who has found the net four times in their last three games.

Wealdstone will expect to dominate the ball, as they have done so for most of this season. They have the 2nd highest average ball possession in the National League this season, averaging 58.1%.

For the majority of the season, Wealdstone have switched between different formations, but they have recently settled on a 3-5-2, and with them being on a good run of form, they’ll likely continue with this shape.

Players to Watch Solihull Moors - Conor Wilkinson Current top goal scorer for The Moors, scoring 8 goals in 19 matches, Conor Wilkinson may be a key player in unlocking Gateshead’s defence. After scoring two goals last time out, Wilkinson spoke about the upcoming home game: “I think a win this weekend would be massive. We know we need to get back to winning ways if we do want to achieve anything this season; it’s on our minds and we are looking to do that. I think I’ve started 13 games this season, which is obviously nowhere near good enough, but the return is obviously what I’ve been trying to get to and long may it continue, hopefully.” Wilkinson will have his mind set on making sure Solihull grab all three points on Saturday, while also adding to his own goal tally. Gateshead FC – Adam Desbois New face at Gateshead is Adam Desbois, and after keeping a clean sheet on his debut against Braintree, Desbois will be looking to replicate his debut form this weekend. Previous to joining Gateshead, Desbois played for Slough Town in the National League South where he made 33 appearances, conceded 45 goals and kept 5 clean sheets. As Gateshead look to try and avoid relegation this season, Desbois will be wanting to do everything he can to stop The Moors from putting a ball in the back of the net.

We know we need to get back to winning ways if we do want to achieve anything this season, it’s on our minds and we are looking to do that. “We go to away places, and they have their fans and we’re the same. When we’re playing at home it does help to have a home advantage and always helps the team. Hopefully if our fans can be noisy and get behind us it’s a 12-man feeling.”
