Blissett hat-trick send Moors top...

Solihull Moors lifted themselves to the summit of the Vanarama National League table after Nathan Blissett’s superb hat-trick secured all three points away at Aldershot Town.

Tim Flowers’ men were without the suspended Luke Maxwell and Danny Wright, as Lee Vaughan, Terry Hawkridge and Blissett came into the starting 11.

Jamey Osborne had the first sight at goal with a free kick from around 20-yards out, but it sailed comfortably over Will Mannion’s crossbar.

Hawkridge then came close, cutting inside and curling not too far wide of the right-hand post.

Back up the other end and Bernard Mensah played in Adam McDonnall who crossed for John Goddard, but it was well-blocked by debutant Vaughan.

And Goddard was in the thick of the action once again as he latched onto Dominic Bernard’s through-ball and fired over.

The Moors broke the deadlock after just 14 minutes. Osborne’s deep corner was met at the back post by Liam Daly who nodded back and there was Blissett to divert home from close range.

Ryan Boot was tested for the first time as a quick free kick found Goddard who forced the Moors ‘keeper in a low save to his right.

Bernard then wriggled his way into the Solihull box and drove a low ball in that evaded the men waiting in the middle.

Half-time: Aldershot Town 0-1 Solihull Moors

The same pair that combined in the opening goal, Osborne and Daly, linked up again when the latter met a lofted cross only to head wide of the mark.

A glorious chance came and went as the Moors searched for that second goal. Jamie Reckord whipped in a dangerous ball from the left and Adi Yussuf skewed over from a few yards out.

That elusive second goal eventually came with just under 20 minutes remaining. Substitute Jermaine Hylton did well to nick the ball off an Aldershot defender, before playing in Blissett who tucked home confidently.

Flowers brought on Tyrone Williams and George Carline in the closing stages as Moors looked to consolidate their lead.

However, Moors weren’t done there and neither was Blissett. A long ball over the top was met by the striker ahead of goalkeeper Mannion as he headed over and into the net for his hat-trick.
