Match Preview: Moors vs Gateshead
Solihull Moors host 23rd-place Gateshead FC on Saturday, 7th March for another National League fixture.
Last time out in the National League, The Moors travelled to Scunthorpe, which resulted in a 3-3 draw, as Conor Wilkinson grabbed two goals and Isaac Moore grabbed the equaliser.
Solihull Moors currently sit in 12th place, where three points on Saturday could push The Moors further up the table as far as 10th, one point ahead of Tamworth, should results go Solihull’s way.
14 points separate these two teams as Gateshead make the trip to Damson Park.
Gateshead have won three of their last five games, with a 1-0 win over Braintree in added time being their most recent outing.
Although they sit 23rd in terms of the table, Gateshead don’t struggle to score goals as they look to have found a good spell of form recently, scoring nine goals in their last five games.
Last time these two teams met, Solihull travelled to Gateshead, which saw The Moors bring back all three points in a 2-0 victory.
Predicted lineups:
Solihull Moors: Walker, Green, Whitmore, Baines, Sonupe, High, Moore, Lipsiuc, Wakeling, Wilkinson, Worman.
Gateshead FC: Desbois, Richardson, Storey, Nicholson, Ward, Grayson, Bowen, Gilsenan, Chapman, Chadwick, Boatswain.
Players to Watch
Solihull Moors - Conor Wilkinson
Current top goal scorer for The Moors, scoring 8 goals in 19 matches, Conor Wilkinson may be a key player in unlocking Gateshead’s defence.
After scoring two goals last time out, Wilkinson spoke about the upcoming home game: “I think a win this weekend would be massive. We know we need to get back to winning ways if we do want to achieve anything this season; it’s on our minds and we are looking to do that.
I think I’ve started 13 games this season, which is obviously nowhere near good enough, but the return is obviously what I’ve been trying to get to and long may it continue, hopefully.”
Wilkinson will have his mind set on making sure Solihull grab all three points on Saturday, while also adding to his own goal tally.
Gateshead FC – Adam Desbois
New face at Gateshead is Adam Desbois, and after keeping a clean sheet on his debut against Braintree, Desbois will be looking to replicate his debut form this weekend.
Previous to joining Gateshead, Desbois played for Slough Town in the National League South where he made 33 appearances, conceded 45 goals and kept 5 clean sheets.
As Gateshead look to try and avoid relegation this season, Desbois will be wanting to do everything he can to stop The Moors from putting a ball in the back of the net.
